Thanksgiving Snack Hunt Preschool Game

Buy at Art.comBy Charlene Haukom

This Seasonal Preschool Game will keep preschoolers happy throughout the Thanksgiving holiday. Set up the snack hunt in advance so your preschooler can have fun while you attend to Thanksgiving Day tasks. If you’re traveling during the holiday, Thanksgiving Snack Hunt is easy to pack. Take it with you to Grandma’s house!

What You Will NeedDifficulty Level 2 out of 5

Whole grain oat cereal rings
Dried cranberries
Sandwich bags
Timer
Large bowl
Wooden Spoon

How to Play

1. Measure out ¼ c. dried cranberries per 2 c. oat cereal rings. Fill some snack bags with cereal and some with dried cranberries. Each preschooler should be able to hunt for at least three bags. The more bags, the more fun.

2. Hide the bags.

3. Set the timer. If there are several preschoolers with a lot of bags to find, give them about 5 minutes. If it’s just one preschooler with a few bags, set the timer for a couple of minutes. You want your preschoolers to have enough time to find the bags, but you also want to keep them hopping.

4. Let the preschoolers make their own trail mix by emptying the ingredient bags into a large bowl. The winner of the game (the one with most bags) gets to stir the mix.

Make it an Educational Preschool Game

Thanksgiving Snack Hunt Preschool Game is obviously a seasonal game. But, you can easily make it an Educational Preschool Game by dropping a few interesting facts as you assemble the mix. For example, “Did you know that cranberries are one of only 3 fruits native to the United States?” You’ll need to expand a little bit since preschoolers may not know what “native” means. Visit www.cranberryinstitute.org for more information on cranberries.

Make Your Preschool Game More Interesting

Make this seasonal preschool game more fun by adding different types of healthy ingredients. Try unsalted nuts for protein and shredded wheat for fiber. KashiTM Autumn Wheat cereal is a great source of fiber, plus it’s sweet enough for preschoolers to enjoy without having a lot of sugar.
