What You Will Need
Egg cartonHeart-shaped stickers, beads, or erasers
Preschool Music
How to Play
1. Cut up an egg carton so that you have 12 individual cups. Use additional egg cartons if a lot of preschoolers will be playing.2. Flip the cups over and place a heart-shaped sticker, bead, or eraser under some or all of the cups. The more preschoolers you have, the more cups and heart-shaped items you’ll need.
3. Play a 5-second snippet of preschool music. While the music is playing, a preschooler gets to peek under the cups in search of a heart-shaped treasure. If s/he finds one, s/he gets to keep it and another preschooler has a turn.
4. Continue Step 3 until all the preschoolers have had a chance at the 5-second musical interval.
5. After all preschoolers have had a turn, repeat Step 3 using a 3-second musical interval. Preschoolers will have to search faster as the musical interval shortens and fewer cups have treasures.
6. Once all of the preschoolers have had a chance at the 3-second musical interval, repeat step 3 using a 1-second interval.
7. Repeat step 6 until all preschoolers have had a turn, or until you’ve run out of heart-shaped treasures.
