Where Am I Preschool Game
By Charlene HaukomWith short playing rounds, the Where Am I Preschool Game is perfect for outdoor play during the cold winter months. You’ll be outside just long enough to sharpen your senses with the cool, crisp air before heading back in to warm up by the fire.
What You Will Need
A blindfoldA familiar outdoor area w/several hiding spots
How to Play
1. Blindfold your preschooler.2. Choose a designated spot for your preschooler to sit. It could be the porch, a tree stump, or inside a playhouse.
3. Look for a “hiding” spot. Make sure you are still within earshot of your preschooler. If your preschooler is blindfolded, you don’t actually need to hide. Simply stand near something you can describe. If you do not have a blindfold for your preschooler, you’ll need to be out of sight.
4. Once you’ve chosen your hiding spot, ask, “Where am I?” Give your preschooler clues like, “I’m near something brown and green.” If your preschooler doesn’t know the answer after the first clue, keep giving them. “The green part is at the top,” and, “The brown part is rough and bumpy,” are also good clues if you are hiding under a tree.
5. When your preschooler figures out where you are, it’s time to switch! Now you have to guess where your preschooler is. Be sure to set clear limits as to how far away your preschooler can go. If your preschooler is not old enough to understand these limits, then skip the switch and simply repeat steps 3 and 4.
Take the Where Am I Preschool Game Indoors
Turn this Outdoor Preschool Game into an Indoor Preschool Game! Where am I can be played anywhere, indoors or out. All you need is a blindfold and a place to hide!Make the Where Am I Preschool Game More Educational
This Outdoor Preschool Game can also be an Educational Preschool Game. Instead of giving visual clues, give factual clues. If you’re hiding under that tree again, give clues like, “I’m near something that gets its food from the ground.” Follow up with other clues like, “Part of its body stays underground to collect food from the dirt,” and “It’s roots also collect rain water.” Keep going, adding more obvious facts along the way. When your preschooler guesses where you are, discuss the facts you’ve given as clues so your preschooler fully understands the lesson.Like this article? Get more like it in your inbox.
