2. Place one label on each preschooler. If you have more than 10 preschoolers, just increase your label numbers accordingly. For example, if you have a total of 12 preschoolers, simply add two labels with the number “6”.
3. Spread out the parachute and have the preschoolers stand at the edge. Have the preschoolers with the same number stand directly across from each other. For example, the preschooler with the number “1” label should stand directly across from the other preschooler with the number “1”.
4. Pick up the parachute by holding the edge and count, “One!” as you lift the parachute high over your heads.
5. The preschoolers with the label “1” should run under the parachute while it falls and take the opposite spot. Odd numbered preschoolers should run in a half circle around, even numbered preschoolers should run directly across.
For example, preschoolers with the numbers 1, 3, and 5 should duck under the parachute and immediately turn right. Run along the outer edge of the parachute (still under), and take the place of the opposite 1, 3, or 5. Both preschoolers should be running at the same time.
Even numbered preschoolers should run straight across and pass each other along the way. This step will reinforce counting and teach preschoolers about even and odd numbers.
6. Repeat steps 4-5 until you've reached the end of the labels. Count the number of times you lift the parachute. For example, when the preschoolers with #1 have finished running, raise the parachute again and say, "Two!", "Three!", etc.
